My expectations were quite high for this one, as I had heard from several people that it is definetly a titanic martial arts action film. I also survey a lot of comparisons to the previously released “SPL aka Slay Zone” and rightfully so, since Flashpoint has both the same director (Wilson Yip) and the same action star (Donnie Yen) . Though I pick up Flashpoint not quite up to par overall with SPL, that’s smooth saying quite a bit, since SPL seems to be the film to beat these days. But what Flashpoint may lack in overall tone, it more than makes up for with breathtakingly kindly fight action, Donnie Yen style.

Now when I say Donnie Yen style, it’s chilly and it’s MMA (mixed martial arts) . Well, at least he’s always trying to act chilly (as many reviewers will point out about Yen) and I guess it works, but its never essential. Yen is so skillfull with his choreogrpahy and skill that that’s plenty icy enough for me. Flashpoint is praised for its extraordinary fight action, but it will have to wait about an hour into the film for it to open, When it does, it is intense and never lets up. The final 30 minutes of the film is the large climax. Tensions and emoitons are at the highest (I want to say almost comparable to SPL at this point, and ironically the stories are somewhat similar as far as Yen’s character is concerned) . The tension can be felt in the fights, as the past hour of the film all comes together in what is to be a spectacular attain. There is a decent shootout that occurs throughout fields of grass before we contemplate the astronomical one on one between Donnie Yen and our main villain - Collin Chou (Matrix Sequals, Forbidden Kingdom) . The fight lasts 8 minutes and is almost unlike anything I have seen. Even Yen and Chou stated that this fight was the most difficult and accomplished of their careers thus far. It is fleet, aroused, and complete with a few unimaginative motion kicks and punches that all felt perfectly placed - you can almost feel the raw power leisurely a Donnie Yen knockout.
As ample as the climax of Flashpoint may be, its the first hour that keeps it from being a perfect film. Though the memoir is exciting and worth watching to feel the apt impact of the bright conclusion, its tranquil a stupid crawl that has almost no action to sustain things fascinating. The characters, situation, script etc also don’t have quite the achieve of that in SPL, and the villain Collin Chou was basically an average villain without any recent qualities (until the last 30 minutes of the film!)

Despite the insensible hour of the film, I can’t stress enough how considerable it is tranquil worth it when that last 30 minutes comes around. First of all, this release from Dragon Dynasty is perfect. I will go over the special features at the extinguish of the review, but I wanted to first mention that the final fight is uninterrupted. In the mainland Chinese version, there was a piece where Collin Chou’s mother comes in and tells him and Donnie to discontinuance fighting. It totally ruined the plug of the fight. So I am very gay to explore that Dragon Dynasty got the proper version.
Now to the movie review. If you liked the action at all in SPL (Killzone in US), then you are in for a exact treat. The final fight in Flash Point is easily one of the best fight scenes ever filmed. Probably top 10. It is distinguished better than Donnie Yen vs. Sammo Hung. At one point I notion I was watching a UFC match, except they aren’t fighting in a cage and there are no rules. Donnie Yen is on his aid kicking upwards and trying to block Collin Chou’s punches, and he manages to grab absorb of Chou’s shirt and gets his legs around his neck. Almost choked out, Chou decides to bring Yen up and then slam him onto the ground. He slams Yen a few times, and it honest keeps going abet and forth like this nonstop. And the fight goes on for about 8 minutes! Mercurial and angry doesn’t even open to picture it. I have never seen anything like it before.
Donnie Yen was in an experimental stage during the leisurely 90’s and had some genuine and abominable movies. Ballistic Kiss was contemptible, but Yarn of the Wolf was a amazing fraction of art. In SPL, Donnie mixed in some grappling and a few other techniques, but the final fight felt too choreographed and dancelike. Flashpoint focuses more on realism, but it is quiet very noteworthy focused on style. Donnie and his crew have perfected their style and are in my mind the top action crew in Hong Kong after making this.
The movie itself is nothing too special. It’s your average cop drama and criminals are killing witnesses so they won’t be charged with the crimes they committed. The relationship between Donnie Yen and his partner Louis Koo is very well done. Collin Chou gives a lovely performance as the villain and newcomer Xing Yu is even better. Ray Lui rounds out the trio of villains and does a titanic job. These guys are truly scary.

- 32 dinky interview with Donnie Yen. That’s upright, 32 minutes. Broad interview. He goes over so distinguished about the movie it’s fantastic.
- Collateral Damage: The Making of Flash Point- a spy slow the scenes and interviews with the actors and director Wilson Yip. 18 minutes, and very informative.
- Flash Point Explored- this is basically the same thing as the making of but longer and more indepth. 28 minutes.
There’s a lot of other slight features like the actors at a premiere, deleted scenes, training… but nothing substantial.

Ice Age: The Colossal Chill was very capable and intriguing. Objective seen The Meltdown and was thoroughly entertained. Hollywood finally establish something out that didn’t have a bunch of sex, blood and gore. Incredible one liners and originality in this. The QUEEN did an outstanding job, and Ray unbiased made it all the better. This would be one for the DVD Library for certain. Kids AND adults both had a spacious time. Thank you Hollywood for finally having something that was fun.
We went to peruse Ice Age 2 the day it came out, which generally guarantees an alive to and rowdy crowd. Everyone there was laughing and clapping throughout.

Syd finds respect and reassurance from a secret tribe of sloth’s that revere him as the “Fire God”. But it’s Scrat, everyone’s approved neurotic squirrel, that’s the factual star of this movie. My kids, and those all around us, laughed their heads off whenever Scrat’s crazy acorn antics were on mask. My [...] primitive asked me today, “Can we go inspect Ice Age 2 again? “. He didn’t even say that after seeing “Bright George”! Fun for the whole family.

If you hated this movie you either didn’t come by it or were one of the people that the opening narration talks about. This film is a scathing satire about the culture that is breeding things like Paris Hilton, Jerry Springer, and Girls Gone Wild and taking a peruse at where the United States could be if that culture continues to grow unchecked. The Result is a movie that while not as droll as Office Status, offers a silly although somewhat frightful study at our society and pop culture. I mediate this movie is one of those films that will eventually become a cult celebrated and generate an even larger following that Office Place has. If you are shrinking by your microscopic niece’s obsession with being like Paris Hilton or are dismayed by what passes for entertainment these days then you need to peruse this movie.

“Psych” is one of those lucky shows that — like a sparkling wine — seems to regain better as it ages. Not that you should stick it in a cellar and forget about it for fifty years, though. The third season of this quirky comedy/mystery expose is definitely worth seeing at least a few times — James Roday and Dule Hill continue to be absolutely hilarious as the faux psychic and his frazzled friend, and their cases continue to secure even weirder.

“Psych” may be breaking up when Gus is given a choice by his boss — his pharmaceutical job, or the agency. To explain their worth, Shawn offers to investigate the company VP’s apprehensive house… and Gus soon finds that there’s more than meets the look to this haunting. Meanwhile Shawn’s mother (Cybill Shepherd) drops in for work, stirring up some archaic skeletons for our common faux psychic.

Their cases become personal when Lassiter (Timothy Ormundson) is accused of killing a drug lord, and Shawn is distinct to note that the disgraced cop didn’t do it. Clearly Steve Franks is sticking to the worn adage: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” “Psych” ain’t broke, so the third season of coasts along smoothly in a flurry of pop culture references, bizarre dialogue (”Señor pantalones del fuego? “) and crimes that befuddle the SBPD.
It does destroy and open unusually — the season premiere is a twistaround of the usual mystery, and finale mercurial becomes a serious, deadly game of cat-and-mouse. But the mysteries in the middle of the season are perfect examples of “Psych”: the writers deftly juggle funny-sounding location twists (roller derbies, stowing away on a murderer’s boat) with some twisty-turny police work.
There’s even an endless parade of pop culture references — “Bustle,” Hamlet, the Peanuts dance, “Gone With The Wind,” and of course “Friday the 13th.” However, “Psych’s” biggest charm point has always been the insanely kooky dialogue. Mostly Shawn provides it (”Unprejudiced once, can you grab life by the petite Lassiters and follow your instincts? “) but the other characters collect some excellent lines here and there (”All I can remember after that are hundreds of those exiguous razor gripping claws and teeth.” “Lower primate my ass. I peer a military formation when I glimpse one!”) .
Roday is eccentric, charming and eternally kooky, as if Shawn is deliberately living out his life like a TV note. But he gets to indicate a very serious, intense side in the finale. Hill continues to be the normal one with a aloof goofy side (”I’m King Kong!”), and gets to do a mettlesome rescue by leaping through a wall of flames. And Ormundson gets to gape some of Lassiter’s other facets (his crumbling marriage and his brief removal from the force) .
The third season of “Psych” is all about the irregular and the wacky, but also injects some very serious, very creepy moments as well. All around a unbelievable success, and it bodes well for what comes up this summer.
‘Psych’ is perhaps the notable example of what can happen when lustrous people cessation obsessing over Gritty Angst and commence having fun. This expose has always been terrific and wittily modern, but its third season finds modern ways to turn convention on its head, which makes for some extremely satisfying television. Plus, it gets bonus points for being seriously re-watchable.
Recommended to everyone, but especially to the people who judge there’s no map the view of a counterfeit psychic could finish titillating this long. I am so very ready for Season 4.

Okay so it doesn’t follow the book entirely but I really enjoyed it, almost as distinguished as I have enjoyed the books over the years.

Filmed in Botswana and South Africa, the film tries to be as faithful as it can be to McCall Smith’s books and I loved every second of it!
This is the pilot movie for a fresh series, so lets hope it is successful!
I saw the premier of the Mc Call Smith “the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency on HBO - it was a improbable production and the cast fit my imagined characters perfectly (I have read all eight books in this series) . I can only recommend this to readers and viewers as a stout experience.

Klaus Kinski, the quick actor and star of hundreds of films both stout and minute, attained his grandest stature when working with German director Werner Herzog. They collaborated on several films together, including “Aguirre, the Wrath of God,” “Fitzcarraldo,” “Woyzeck,” “Nosferatu,” and “Cobra Verde.” I’ve seen three of these films now, and the formula is the same in all three. Kinski plays a driven personality who attempts to make some gigantic feat that no one else can effect. In “Aguirre” he space out with a contingent of Spanish soldiers to gain the fabled city of gold. “Fitzcarraldo” saw Kinski playing a wealthy rubber baron in Brazil in search of finding a design to effect an opera house on the banks of the Amazon. “Cobra Verde” continues the tradition with Kinski starring as a primitive South American plantation owner and bandit leader in search of a procedure to restart the African slave trade against crushing odds. There’s something magnetic about Kinski in these Herzog movies that makes you possess no other actor could play the character. Perhaps it is his volcanic personality luminous through onscreen, a personality that Herzog had expansive difficulties in restraining. Whatever the case, film fans could do worse than exhaust an evening with a Herzog/Kinski collaboration.

In “Cobra Verde” Kinski plays Francisco Manoel da Silva, a man ruined when family catastrophes and a dreadful drought cost him his plantation. In an attempt to recover his property and keep his life benefit together, he takes a grinding job with a mining company. When the owners try to shortchange him after a hard day’s work, he stomps off in a rage and begins a career as the well-known bandit Cobra Verde. While we don’t scrutinize his subsequent career as a robber and killer, we do learn that all of Brazil–indeed, all of South America–has at least heard of his astronomical exploits. Fortunately for Kinski’s character, the wealthy sugar baron Don Octavio Coutinho (Jose Lewgoy) doesn’t gape him when Cobra Verde somehow calms a uncertain runaway slave. Impressed by the man’s talents, Coutinho hires da Silva to work as an overseer on his tall estates. Everything seems to go gangbusters until da Silva impregnates every single one of Don Coutinho’s mulatto daughters. The sugar baron goes ballistic, and gets even angrier when he discovers he is dealing with the immense Cobra Verde. Coutinho and his fellow kingpins devise a understanding to rid themselves of this potentially hazardous force. They determine to send him to Africa.
Why? Because the land barons in South America want more slaves in order to work more land. There are obstacles to the mission, including a ban on the importation of slaves and a hostile African king who kills all of the European mediators. Da Silva knows none of this, or very runt of it, before agreeing to go to Africa. He doesn’t have distinguished of a choice since the sugar barons will destroy him if he refuses. His ship sets him ashore at Elmina, a tall barracoon on the flee of prove day Ghana. Cobra Verde discovers that an attack on the fortress wiped out all but one man, a chatty free African who agrees to relieve da Silva negotiate with the King of Dahomey for more slaves. And it works, at first, when da Silva convinces the representatives from Dahomey to trade slaves for unusual rifles. Then problems dwelling in. The king brings Kinski’s character before him and threatens him with death. Da Silva escapes and makes an alliance with a prince who wishes to occupy over the throne. Thanks to Cobra Verde’s manic military training of thousands of African women, the prince captures the throne and allows the slave trade to continue. Once again, the dwelling deteriorates after a time, forcing Cobra Verde to hover from Elmina with nowhere to go. The last shot we survey of him is one of the more memorable scenes I’ve had the pleasure to spy in a film. It stays with you.

The state of “Cobra Verde” isn’t nearly as animated as Herzog’s visuals and Kinski’s performance. As always, Kinski captures emotional extremes extraordinarily well. He’s subdued when Don Coutinho shows him the brutality of the plantation or when he converses with the Don’s daughters. When training the prince’s army, he’s practically frothing at the mouth. Kinski is never anything but entirely believable in both situations. Of course, it takes a performer of Kinski’s caliber to stand out in films where the visuals are often more essential than the human elements. Such is the case with “Cobra Verde.” I have two current scenes in the film, but there are many objective as memorable. The first site takes space when da Silva refuses to visit the king because he says he must end where he has one foot in the ocean. When the king’s men tie da Silva up, they lift a jug, gain it with seawater, and tie it around his foot for the long wander inland. There’s your one foot in the water! The second scene involves sending messages from Elmina to the novel prince. A line of Africans extending for miles along the hover, each man separated by a few feet, send codes by waving vast red flags. Herzog’s camera lingers on this unbelievable imagery for minutes at a time.
Included on the disc are a trailer and a commentary track with Herzog. The director discusses his tempestuous relationship with Kinski (always a fan celebrated), his experiences with Bruce Chatwin and how he convinced this author to let him exercise “The Viceroy of Ouidah” as source material for the film, and the difficulties of shooting in so many harsh environments. While I liked “Cobra Verde,” and assume it is obligatory for Klaus Kinski fans, I noteworthy hold “Aguirre” and “Fitzcarraldo” to this film. Aloof, this one will compose you contemplate long after that last, lingering shot on the beach.
As many other films and characters created by Werner Herzog, Cobra Verde explores the extent to which cruelty and obsession can lead an individual to his enjoy right and human defeat. This is a graceful cute present. It has pleasant animation, a top-notch narrative, and safe music. My beef with it is that the prove ends after a couple of episodes–it objective stops.
This is an OVA, and the Sakura Wars TV series comes after it. And both near after the game.
I consider I should have had a limited knowledge of the games before I watched this, since it impartial picked up with the Demons. It didn’t give ANY background on the Demons at all, which had me lost for the first episode or two. But as it went along I stopped worrying about how and why the Demons existed/were there and focused on the present itself.

The dubbing in both versions is top notch. I personally buy the English version. Since the girls are from various countries, not unprejudiced Japan, they cannot be expected to assert Japanese all that well, and without an accent.But in the English, we derive to hear the girls in their “native” tongues and with “native” accents. What I mean is this: The French girl *sounds* French (and she even speaks in French when we first meet her) . The Russian Maria has a definitive Russian accent, which comes across very well even though we never acquire to hear her verbalize in Russian. And the Chinese teenager talks with a Chinese accent, and also speaks in Chinese.
So, glance this. You won’t regret doing so, but you might want to perceive the TV series objective to win a exiguous better conception of what is going on. Or accept (or at least study) the games.
I have heard the negatives of Sakura Wars and I have heard the positives. I for one contemplate it is a fabulous video. It may have to do with the fact that I watched this movie in the middle of the night, but I very mighty disagree with the previous review. There was a bit of predictablity to this movie, but it was collected very sweet and carried a titanic message. It speaks the truth that unprejudiced because you have faith and follow God things will not always be easy, but in the midst of hardship there is comfort and a chance to construct a disagreement. I found it to be uplifting and enjoyed it. I even recommended it to others.
I read the new this film is based on years ago and I’ve never forgotten it. The movie stayed lawful to the novel’s themes and is a astonishing, uplifting legend that refutes the plan that poor things never happen to Christians. But it also shows how God can carry us through when tragedy happens and even employ our lives as an example and an encouragement to others. Very though-provoking and memorable, and a movie I wouldn’t be ashamed to recommend to family and friends of any age.
